In today’s fast-paced and competitive business world, entrepreneurs and small business owners need to be more efficient and productive than ever before. One way to achieve this is by hiring a virtual assistant (VA) rather than an employee. These benefits that I am sharing will help you educate potential clients about what a VA is and how it could be a great thing for their business.
- Cost-Effective
Hiring a virtual assistant is a cost-effective solution for entrepreneurs and small business owners who cannot afford to hire a full-time employee. Unlike hiring a traditional employee, a VA works remotely, which means that they don’t have to pay for office space, equipment, or benefits. VAs work work on a contract basis, therefore businesses can hire you for specific tasks or projects, depending on the business needs.

Entrepreneurs and small business owners often find themselves overwhelmed with administrative tasks, which can take up a significant amount of their time. Hiring a VA allows them to delegate these tasks to you, a professional, freeing up their time to focus on more important tasks such as business development, marketing, and sales.

[00:00:00] Hey, hello. Welcome to the Mamas Making More podcast. I am so happy that you’re here today. I have a fun episode. I’m going to warn you. It’s a little bit different than normal, but stick with me here.
[00:00:12] So I am going to be talking about the reasons that I think it’s beneficial to hire a virtual assistant. Specifically, why a business should hire you as a virtual assistant. Now, normally I talk about how to launch and grow your VA business, but this is actually really relevant and important.
[00:00:28] Just as a quick caveat. Although being a VA covers a huge range of services and can be business to consumer, which is referred to often as B to C. I am going to be focusing in this discussion on business to business, which is referred to as B2B and this discussion. Okay. So the reason this is all relevant to virtual assisting is that it’s not something that everybody knows about still. In an office setting, my guess is that everyone would know what the office manager or what the administrative assistant is. [00:01:00] However, not as many people know what a virtual assistant is and why they should hire one. So in today’s episode, I am sharing about why a business should consider hiring a VA as opposed to an employee.
[00:01:13] And side note, you could actually use some of these benefits to help educate your friends and family who don’t quite understand what a VA is and why someone should hire you as a VA. So also for the purpose of this episode, I’m referring to a VA that’s a professional who works remotely to support the business needs, taking on tasks like administrative work, social media management, research, email management, and more.
[00:01:37] I’ve shared all about these services in previous episodes. The reason why I feel this topic is super important to share with you today is that a lot of business owners just don’t know. And I want you as a VA to have the language to be able to explain to them the benefits of hiring you instead of an employee.
[00:01:56] These benefits that I’m sharing today. They’re actually the real life [00:02:00] talking points that I use from the very beginning to help educate potential clients about what a VA is and how it could be a great thing for their business.
[00:02:08] So number one, the first thing that’s actually super important is that it’s cost-effective. One of the main advantages of hiring a VA is the cost effectiveness of it compared to hiring a full-time W2 employee.
[00:02:22] When a business owner hires a full-time employee, they are not only responsible for the employee’s salary, but also for the other expenses, like the office space, the equipment insurance benefits, payroll taxes. That can all add up to a significant amount of money. Which might not be feasible, especially for a small business or solopreneurs who are just starting out.
[00:02:47] On the flip side, when someone hires a VA, they are only paying for the services provided. So this means that the business owners, they don’t have to worry about paying for [00:03:00] additional expenses associated with the hiring a traditional W2 employee, such as that office rent utilities, equipment.
[00:03:07] Think about it. There is no need for a desk, computer printer, office supplies. And additionally, since a virtual assistant works remotely businesses, don’t have to worry about providing them with any physical workspace. Which can save them a significant amount of money. They don’t need to provide a cubicle or an office space.
[00:03:24] Since virtual assistants work on a contract basis. Businesses can hire you for specific tasks or projects depending on what that business actually needs. This means that they only pay for the time that you are spending on their projects rather than paying for a part-time or full-time employee who may not have enough work to do all of the time.
[00:03:44] This allows the business owner to have more flexibility to hire a professional on an add needed basis. With a VA, it’s possible for small businesses or entrepreneurs to scale their business without worrying about those costs associated with [00:04:00] hiring actual additional employees.
[00:04:02] Another benefit is that running a business can be overwhelming, especially for entrepreneurs and small business owners who wear like a lot of hats. Administrative tasks, things like email management, scheduling data entry, bookkeeping. Those can all take up a significant amount of time and energy, leaving the business owners feeling they might feel drained, stressed out, unable to focus on the more important tasks like the business development, marketing, and sales.
[00:04:28] Instead by hiring a virtual assistant, these entrepreneurs and small business owners, they can delegate these admin tasks to a professional, this frees up their time and their energy to focus on matters that are more pressing to them. As a VA, you can handle a variety of their tasks, like managing emails, appointments, handling their customer inquiries, even performing research. Those are just a few tasks that you could take off of their plate.
[00:04:55] This delegation to a VA, it can really have a big impact on the [00:05:00] productivity and effectiveness of a business owner. By outsourcing these admin tasks to a VA, these business owners, they can focus on their wheelhouse, which can lead to more innovation, productivity, and profitability. And let’s be real. It can also reduce the stress and burnout that often comes with running a business.
[00:05:18] One more thing with time-saving. VAs, they can provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with specialized support, meaning the business owner doesn’t need to learn a skill that they don’t want to have to take the time to learn like social media management, the content creation, the digital marketing. Those are all things that can be really crucial to growing their business but it takes a lot of time to learn and master.
[00:05:40] Okay on to number three. Another key advantage is that VA’s they’re, well-versed in the latest tools and software that can help increase that efficiency and productivity. Really good VA’s are up to date on the latest trends technologies. In whatever their specialized services are. And that allows you to deliver [00:06:00] high quality work in a timely and efficient manner to those entrepreneurs or business owners who hire you. VAs, they can provide a really valuable insight and they can provide recommendations on how to streamline processes in that business, how to optimize the workflows. And those can ultimately help a business owner achieve their goals a lot faster.
[00:06:21] VAs, they can also provide businesses with access to the latest technologies and software, which can help them stay ahead of their competition. So let’s take, for example, a VA with an experience or a specialty in digital marketing. That VA can help the business owner create effective marketing strategies that can increase their online presence and attract new customers. This is just a very general discussion of efficiency, but based on your specific niche or specialty as a VA, you can provide a really customized, detailed discussion regarding how you can help a business owner increase their efficiency by hiring you.
[00:06:59] So [00:07:00] number four, virtual assistants are highly flexible and they can be hired both short-term and long-term depending on the requirements or the needs of the business. This means that a business can hire you as a virtual assistant for a specific time period, like to complete a project or during their busy season.
[00:07:20] And all of this is without having to commit to a long-term employee. This flexibility, it also allows businesses to scale up or down as they need without having to worry about the financial and those legal responsibilities that come with hiring W2 employees. VA’s can be hired for specific tasks, specific projects, or as a full-time assistant, depending on the needs of the entrepreneur or the businesses. This flexibility allows the business to hire you as a VA based on their specific and customized needs and budget.
[00:07:55] For the last one, another great thing to bring up if you are [00:08:00] educating a business owner about the benefits of hiring you as their VA, is that it can allow them to achieve a better work-life balance. Juggling multiple per, I almost said multiple personalities. Juggling multiple responsibilities. It can be overwhelming.
[00:08:15] And delegating those tasks to a VA can help reduce their stress and with less stress, hopefully that will actually improve their personal lives. With a VA taking care of those admin tasks, business owners can free up their time to pursue their hobbies, spend more time with their family and friends, or just relax and recharge this. All of these things they can lead to happier, healthier, and more productive lifestyles. A better work-life balance can also help prevent that burnout, which can have a really negative impact on your personal and professional life for those business owners.
[00:08:47] Those were my top five benefits of hiring a virtual assistant. And really it’s just such an excellent investment for those entrepreneurs and small business owners. It allows them to save time and [00:09:00] money, increase efficiency, and achieve a better work-life balance. If those are not all major selling points, I don’t know what is.
[00:09:07] I hope you found this episode helpful. And that the things that I shared will allow you to confidently sell your services even to a business owner who isn’t super familiar with virtual assisting.
[00:09:18] That’s all I have for now. See you in the next episode.
